Consumer alert issued as new California driver's license law takes effect
In a little more than three weeks, a new law will go into effect allowing all undocumented workers the chance to get a driver's license.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- AB 60 will go into effect on January 1 and everyone who lives in California will be eligible to get a driver's license regardless of their immigration status.

There's now a new consumer alert warning everyone who applies for a license to beware of scam artists who claim you have to pay them to get a license.

Attorney General Kamala Harris says expect to pay the DMV about $33 for the application for most cars.

The Mexican Consulate is also working to educate people so they don't pay any private business other than someone at the counter at the DMV.

Anyone with questions about the application process is asked to contact the DMV or the Mexican Consulate.
