Wine tasting at farmers markets OK'd
People in the Valley could soon be wine tasting at local farmer?s markets because of a new state law.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- People in the Valley could soon be wine tasting at local farmer's markets because of a new state law.

Governor Jerry Brown signed the law making it legal to wine taste at certified farmer's markets. Under the new law, only one winery can pour each person a maximum of three ounces of wine per day. Tasters will also be restricted to a roped off area.

Staff at one local winery said the changes will help boost their bottom line by expanding their customer base.

"If we can get to Clovis on the other side of town and do those three little one ounce tastes, maybe you are going to come out to the winery the next weekend," said Bret Engelmann.

Organizers of the River Park Farmer's Market are planning to start the outdoor tastings by the end of summer. However organizers of the Clovis Farmer's Market say they're still debating whether to include wine pours in their setting.
