FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A former Fresno firefighter is among those whose names now appear on a memorial wall in Sacramento.

Capt. Dan O'Meara presented an American flag to the family of Capt. Neil Holmes during a ceremony Saturday on the grounds of the State Capitol. Holmes died from a brain aneurysm in 1998.

His name is one of 15 added to the California Firefighters Memorial. It includes a total of nearly 1,300 names of those who died in the line of duty, whether from a traumatic injury or job-related illness.

Three of the names added Saturday lost their lives in earlier years, but only recently came to light, including Capt. Holmes.
