A special test can determine if you have a genetic propensity of developing certain cancers. It's offered at the Adventist Health Breast Care Center in Hanford.
Julce Belo, the Program Coordinator for Adventist Health Breast Care Center in Hanford says 500 patients have been tested. 22 were found to carry a gene that shows they are at higher risk of getting cancer. However, it doesn't mean they will develop cancer.
Belo sat down with Latino Life host Graciela Moreno to discuss Myriad Genetic Testing. The screening involves a saliva or blood draw test. The test is offered in Hanford and will soon be offered at the Adventist Health Medical office in Reedley.
