Valley ALS Association takes part in Ice Bucket Challenge

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Valley branch of the ALS Association took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge awareness effort on Saturday and issued a challenge of its own.

"We're going to challenge ABC30 here in Fresno to do the Ice Bucket Challenge," a member of the association said.

Several people with the Golden West Chapter took part in the fundraiser that's sweeping the nation -- some getting soaked multiple times. The grassroots campaign has helped bring in millions of dollars and raise awareness. People are asked to take the challenge or make a donation to the ALS Association.

There is not currently a cure for the disease.

And in case you're wondering, our own Action News reporter Veronica Miracle agreed to take the Ice Bucket Challenge on Saturday night.

The water used in this challenge made its way into our patio's storm drain, and some landed on nearby plants.
