?Dogs defense responds to Ward?s approach
New Defensive Coordinator Lorenzo Ward putting his stamp on defense

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Practice 16 of 29 is in the books and a new defensive coordinator in town. Lorenzo Ward and the Bulldogs are responding to the different approach he's taking this fall camp.

"I think we really simplified the defense, cutting some plays out and keeping it to the basics, playing sound defense instead of a ton of defense," said Linebacker Jeff Camilli.

"More than simplifying we still have the same system, I think you just have to give the kids and put them in situations, make them do what they can do," said Ward.

Ward enters his first season as the 'Dogs defensive coordinator and see the middle of his defense anchoring the way.

"I think we have the most experience at the linebacker spot, probably the most depth when it comes pound for pound at the linebacker spot," said Ward.

"I think the blessing of it is that it made us so mad we don't ever want to be there again really. You see it on the attitudes of everyone out here, I sure don't want to go 3-9 again and I know they don't, our goal is to get back to the championship just like this program should be," said Camilli.
