Good Sports: XMX Racing
You can't miss the XMX racing team out in public even if you tried.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- You can't miss the XMX racing team out in public even if you tried. Their bright orange shirts stand out on street race courses, and at community service events that feature the entire team volunteering.

"We're a cycling team," Aaron Cox of XMX said, "and we use - with our sponsors - some of the budget that we have to go racing to buy these kids bikes."

Every year, XMX partners with Children's Hospital Central California to give 60 bikes to children identified by doctors as kids who would benefit the most from outdoor exercise. The kids have to reach predetermined fitness goals to earn a bike.

"You have to put a lot of dedication and passion into this," Giovanni Covarrubias, one of the kids getting a bike, said. "Be active, diets and all that. It taught me that hard work pays off."

"It's more than just sitting around in your house or shuffling your feet," XMX Racing's George Chinn added. "Get out there, be active. It will change your life. It really will."

For the men in orange, no first place medal can beat giving back to the community through their common passion: bike racing. It's a sport that gave them so much as kids, and they want to pass it along to the next generation.

"There's no price or money put on those joys and happiness that I still feel at this age riding a bicycle," Cox said with a smile. "So I know these kids are going to have fun on those bikes and doing whatever they want to do."

XMX currently reaches out to five kids a month through the sponsorship they have now. But they know the sky is the limit if they can get more support from the community they serve.

"We've got a lot of our same sponsors coming on board and a few more also adding," Cox added. "And we're going to continue either do more or just as many."

Rewarding local children and making an impact, two wheels at a time.
