FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Former Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr is the newest Oakland Raider. The silver and black took Carr with the fourth pick of the second round in the NFL Draft on Friday.

There were some draft experts who thought that Carr might have sneaked into the late first round, but this early second round selection by the Raiders is not that surprising if you go back to Carr's pro day in the Valley.

Among the dozens of executives and scouts on hand were two of the biggest ones in the Raider organization. General manager Reggie McKenzie and head coach Dennis Allen visited Bulldog Stadium to watch Carr throw well in front of the Red Wave.

And with Hall of Famer Willie Brown calling his name, Carr's selection was made official.

"I'm just so fired up that they called," Derek Carr told reporters. "When that pick came up I saw that they were next, and I was just waiting looking at my phone and it started ringing; I almost forgot how to answer it."

Fellow Bulldog Davante Adams got drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round. Adams will join Super Bowl winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers and a talented receiving corps similar to the one Adams played with for Fresno State.
