Driver arrested in fatal crash near Mendota

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said they have arrested Orlando Orozco of Dos Palos after, they say, he was drunk and caused a crash that killed a Mendota man.

The CHP said the crash happened late Saturday afternoon on Highway 180, west of San Mateo Avenue. They said Orozco swerved into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a truck, causing another car to crash into both vehicles, killing a 50-year-old Mendota man.

Investigators say Orozco is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. Orozco is at Community Regional Medical Center recovering from major injuries.
