HOUSTON -- At least two people are dead and two more are missing in overnight flooding across the Houston area.
One death happened on Ranchester under the Westpark Tollway. Police confirm a female driver in a white truck drove into high water and wasn't able to get out.
We spoke with a witness who said at around 2:30am, he drove into the flood water where the woman died, but was able to escape.
The second was a body pulled from Brays Bayou near on South MacGregor Way near the University of Houston. According to authorities, the person who was pulled from the bayou was involved in an earlier rescue operation. Four citizens and two firefighters were on an HFD rescue boat when it overturned. One citizen and both firefighters are safe, but two citizens are missing and the third was the victim found dead.
City of Houston officials say there have been 968 emergency calls made as of 9am. More than 530 were water-related, primarily people being trapped in vehicles. They also say people were not trapped in Toyota Center, as that area did not flood.
