Voight came to show his support for McCain's effort to work on the bailout. On Capitol Hill, critics are accusing McCain of gumming up the rescue effort with presidential campaign politics.
Voight said he doesn't deserve the criticism. "So, I say stop it guys, get to work. John McCain going to Washington is the right idea. Let's go to work."
Just outside the Republican headquarters, protestors took to the streets to voice their concern about the bailout plan.
"Main Street before Wall Street. No bail out!" shouted protestors.
A coalition of local groups picketed at Shaw and Blackstone. They said the bailout is meant for corporations, and won't help average people suffering from problems like job loss and foreclosure.
