Two school buses collide in Nash County

BAILEY, N.C.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on Hornes Church and Liles Roads in Nash County.

School officials told ABC11 that one bus was from Southern Nash Middle School and the other was from Southern Nash High School.

They said the first bus was stopped letting a student off when the second bus' driver was distracted by unruly students and struck the first bus in the rear.

There were 25 students on front bus and 27 on the rear bus. Two students transported to a Wilson hospital with minor injuries. Both of those injured were middle school students.

The buses involved in the accident were drivable, but they were not used to transport students. New buses were used to take the students home.

The driver of the second bus received a ticket for following too closely.
