Yosemite park borders are set to expand

The California State Senate has passed a resolution in support of expanding the borders of Yosemite National Park.

The plan would allow Yosemite to add 1,600 acres of land to the park. Much of that land is currently owned by the non-profit pacific forest trust. It was originally part of the park but congress stripped its protection in 1906.

The proposal has also been endorsed by the mariposa county board of supervisors.
