Man assaulted by teens on Fresno FAX bus, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating an assault in west central Fresno involving five minors.

Fresno police say around 9:30 pm Thursday, the five teens were arguing with a man on a FAX bus.

The bus driver called the incident in and stopped at a bus stop near Brawley and Shields when the situation escalated, turning physical.

"At one point, one of the juveniles got up, reached over the seat and started punching him in the face," says Fresno Police Sgt. Steven Latham. "Then two other juveniles joined in, and he was hit several times throughout the face and body before the bus driver intervened and yelled at the kids to get off the bus."

Police say the teens ran off after the attack.

One of them stole the man's groceries.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators will now be reviewing FAX bus surveillance cameras to find the suspects.
