New storm system moves into Central California with flood concerns
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Following a round of storms in Central California this past weekend, more is still on the way.
Many parts of Central California woke up to heavy rainfall Tuesday morning as a new storm system moves in.
A flood watch is in effect until Wednesday.
Accuweather Alerts are in place for Monday and Tuesday as the storm arrives in the Valley.

TUESDAY, MARCH 14

An evacuation shelter for goats, sheep, and other small livestock has been set up at the Tulare County Fairgrounds.
Animals can be dropped off at Gate 7 on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
For large animals, call the Tulare County Animal Services at (559) 636-4050, or fill out a Natural Disaster Assistance Form.

The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office has lifted evacuation warnings for the following areas:

An Advisory Message remains for Cedar Valley - Southeast and Femmon Ranch Road due to road damage.

Highway 168 has reopened near Shaver Lake after heavy snowfall in the roadway forced a closure earlier in the day.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for parts of Merced County due to strong winds.
Officials say winds are expected to reach up to 30 miles per hour in areas including Merced, Atwater, Winton, Planada, and Snelling.
Residents are advised to stay inside sturdy buildings as the winds pass through.
The Special Weather Statement is in effect until 5:15 pm.

Highway 168 has been closed in both directions between Huntington Lake Road and Tamarack Creek due to heavy snowfall in the roadway.
There is no estimated time of when the highway will reopen.

The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office has issued a shelter in place order for residents on Triangle Park Road during this latest storm.
Officials say flood waters have damaged the road, leaving residents no way to get in or out of the community.
Residents are urged to shelter in place until the order is lifted and not to try crossing the damaged roadway.

In a news conference on Tuesday, Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said the Kings River and San Joaquin River are closed for recreational use, effective immediately.
This comes as many bodies of water throughout Central California have dealt with severe overflowing.

Two trees have fallen in northeast Fresno, with one of them landing on an apartment complex.
Five adults and five children were displaced.
High winds due to the series of storms in Central California could have played a role in the trees falling.

The City of Porterville has declared a local state of emergency as storms continue to hit the South Valley.

Officials announced Monday that two more emergency flood shelters have now opened in Merced County.

The City of Visalia has declared a state of emergency due to the recent storm and in anticipation of the next storm.
Officials say an emergency response plan is now in place through Monday, March 20.
Crews worked to divert water to help avoid major flooding in most areas throughout the city over the weekend.

The Evacuation Order for MDC-88A-C (East Side of Church Street) has been reduced to a warning.
Officials say residents should stay ready and prepared if they need to leave in case flood waters rise with the upcoming storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the city of Firebaugh.

Governor Gavin Newsom has proclaimed a state of emergency Sunday to support storm response and relief efforts in six additional counties.
Those counties include Calaveras, Del Norte, Glenn, Kings, San Benito and San Joaquin.
3:05 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado warning issued for cities of El Nido and Dos Palos.
The tornado warning is in effect until 3:30 p.m.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Office Swift Water Dive Rescue Team was called in to rescue a driver on Road 108 north of Avenue 364 who tried to drive across the flooded road.
The Chevy Colorado was swept onto the shoulder of the road and became lodged in a culvert full of fast-moving water.
The driver called 911, and crews were able to help him escape unharmed.
When you see road closure signs, don't pass them, and when you encounter a flooded roadway, "turn around, don't drown."
SATURDAY, MARCH 11

Eagle Mountain Casino on the Tule River Reservation has announced it is closed until further notice.
The storm caused extensive flooding and damage to the road leading to the casino.
Crews worked to evacuate casino guests and employees.

China Peak will remain closed until Thursday, March 16 due to excessive flooding.
The ski resort will continue to provide updates as Thursday approaches to confirm if it will reopen.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado warning issued for cities of Kerman, Biola and Tranquillity.
The tornado warning is in effect until 4:15 p.m.
