Standout 7th grade musician receives a new clarinet

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Naomi Jahsi has been given a gift that is sure to take her love for music to new heights.

The Cultural Arts Rotary Club presented Naomi Jahsi a clarinet on Tuesday: her very first instrument. She is a seventh grade student at Rio Vista Middle School who just started taking lessons about a year ago. But her teacher says in that short amount of time she has made tremendous progress.

Naomi received the gift as part of the AJ Parker Foster Memorial Musical Instrument Award created in honor of a Clovis North High School student who passed away three years ago.

Naomi is the third recipient of the award which is given to a young student who has demonstrated a dedication to music, studies and the community.
