ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Someone set a homeless man on fire using fireworks in New Mexico. The attack was captured on surveillance video on July 11 around 8 p.m. in Albuquerque.

The video shows someone in a purple GMC sport utility vehicle driving up to the sleeping man and then stop. A few seconds later, the SUV slowly drives away and suddenly a flash is seen, which police said was a lit firework being thrown at the man, setting him ablaze. Another camera then shows the SUV driving away.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he remained in intensive care on Monday, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

Police are hoping someone will be able to identify the owner of the SUV seen in the video.
