FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Madera Unified staff member has been placed on leave as the district and police investigate videos posted on her social media.
The videos, which have been circulating on Facebook and Instagram, show the staff member, identified as Kenisha Daily, loading a gun and calling for people to join her "black militia". The videos are under investigation.
According to Madera Unified, Daily worked at Lincoln Elementary School as a Special Education staff member.
In response to the videos, the school district says Daily has been placed on leave and they are working with the Madera Police Department to enhance security at the elementary school.
According to MUSD, police have been to Daily's home and a restraining order has been issued.
This comes as students at Madera Unified recently returned to campuses to start the new school year.
According to Daily's LinkedIn, she founded "All things Fresno," which promotes local artists, cultural events, and community leaders.
In a statement to Action News, Daily says:
"I created the social media posts while I was learning about firearm safety. I do not own any firearms, and there was no live ammunition present. I viewed the post as entertainment and never meant to threaten, harm, or alarm anyone. Looking back, I understand how it could be hurtful or concerning, regardless of my intention.
Law enforcement followed up and determined there was no threat. I cooperated fully, and I appreciate their professionalism and promptness in the matter.
I am genuinely heartbroken that a careless post has caused people to question my character and the trust they have in me. For anyone who has been impacted or made to feel uncomfortable, I am truly sorry.
I'm grateful for the people who know me, my character, and the work I do in our community, and for their continued understanding during this time. While the investigation is ongoing, I will not be making further comments, but I trust that the full context of the situation will be considered."
