Woman impaled in buttocks while texting and driving
A busy mother learned a hard lesson about the dangers of texting and driving

DENVER, CO (KFSN) -- Many people know the dangers of texting while driving, but many do it anyway. A Colorado woman is lucky to be alive after she was in a serious accident while texting.

Busy mother Christina Jahnz was running late to a meeting after bringing her daughter's saxophone to her middle school, so she used her phone to send a quick text.

"The next thing I knew, I was looking up, there was white powder from the air bags deployed," she recalled.

Jahnz had slammed into a guardrail pole. It went through the front light of her truck piercing her in the buttocks and continuing through the seat behind her.

"They had to cut behind me because the pipe went through my seat," Jahnz said. "I could feel it the vibrations and stuff."

Firefighters were able to get Jahnz out of the car, and she was rushed to a hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.

"I'm truly a miracle. They said if it gone just a little bit the other way, I would have bled out," Jahnz said. "Devastating knowing that I could have prevented it to begin with."
