The latest on the race for California State Assembly District 31

Three candidates are vying to replace Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, who represents District 31 in the California State Assembly.

The candidates are Fresno City Councilmember and Democrat Annalisa Perea and non-profit leader and Democrat Sandra Celedon and retired engineering technician Republican Jim Polsgrove.

The latest on the race to figure out who will replace the termed-out assemblymember, Joaquin Arambula.

Perea hosted an election night party in central Fresno on Tuesday night, where she addressed her supporters, telling them she is full steam ahead for the next several months.

A key race that's being watched across California is playing out in Fresno County.

Candidates Democratic Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria, Democratic Sanger City Councilmember Esmeralda Hurtado and Republican Merced City Councilmember Darin DuPont are all vying for California's State Senate District 14's seat.

A key race that's being watched across California is playing out in Fresno County.

Assemblywoman Esmerelda Soria addressed her supporters in central Fresno on Tuesday, pleased with the initial results, adding that her numbers looked good.

She was full of energy as she said she is looking forward to November.

District 14 stretches from Merced to Coalinga and includes Los Banos, parts of Fresno and Sanger.

Karen Bass advances to November runoff for LA mayor, ABC News projects

With just under 50% of the expected votes counted, ABC News projects that incumbent Karen Bass will advance to the November runoff for Los Angeles mayor.

On Tuesday night, Bass was leading the pack with 37% of the vote. She would need over 50% of the vote to outright win the election and avoid a runoff.

ABC News has not yet projected who Bass' opponent will be in the November election. At last check, Spencer Pratt was in second place with 30% of the vote, followed by Nithya Raman with 21%.
