Man found in canal with gunshot wound, deputies say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County Sheriff's deputies are investigating after a man was found lying in a canal with a gunshot wound to lower portion of his body.

It happened on the 3500 block of west University Avenue near McKinley and Valentine just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies are talking with witnesses to determine what led up to the shooting.

The victim was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
