Northwest Fresno shooting sends man to hospital
Police are investigating after a man was shot in Northwest Fresno Sunday afternoon.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot in Northwest Fresno Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. in the area of Corona and Aurora avenues, not far from Lawless Elementary School. Fresno police say the 23-year-old man was shot in the stomach.

Paramedics took the victim to Community Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery. His condition is unknown.

Investigators say they're looking for two suspects who they believe drove away in a silver car.

"To our knowledge it's not a drive-by; it may be that the victim and the suspects somehow knew each other," said Sgt. Skye Leibee of the Fresno Police Department.

Investigators do not believe this was a gang-related shooting.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.
