Police identify man killed in east central Fresno shooting

Man shot and killed after car crash in east central Fresno
Officers say a pair of cars got into a crash, and the people involved in the collision started shooting at each other near Belmont and Backer around 4 am.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police have identified the man who was shot and killed after a car crash in east central Fresno on Sunday morning as 36-year-old Joshua Thao.

Thao went to Belmont and Backer after a family member was involved in a crash around 4 am.

Investigators say other friends and family members were at the crash site and an argument erupted between the group. One person pulled out a gun and shot Thao. He died at the scene.

No suspect information has been released at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
