23-year-old man dies following shooting in Merced, police say

MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 23-year-old man has died after an argument led to gunfire in Merced.

Police say they responded to reports of shots fired on Wednesday afternoon at Applegate Park, located on 25th and P streets.

When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe an argument broke out between several people shortly before the shooting.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment but died from his injuries.

The suspect is still on the run.
