Unidentified victim found inside burnt home in Fresno County, officials say
A deadly house fire in Laton has shaken up the small Fresno County community. Officials have confirmed that an unidentified body was found inside.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The person killed in a house fire in Fresno County on Thursday has been identified as 11-year-old Kayla Cruz Ledesma.

The fire broke out at the home in Laton just after 11 a.m. on Gonser Street between Summit Avenue and Murphy Street.

Officials say Ledesma was napping and home alone when it started.

According to Fresno County Fire, the blaze destroyed an RV parked next to the house. Flames also threatened nearby homes and spread to vegetation, prompting a response from multiple agencies.

As the family tries to figure out their next steps, assistance is coming from both relief organizations and neighbors.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
