12-year-old girl hit by SUV while riding bike to school in central Fresno, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 12-year-old girl is recovering after police say she was hit by a vehicle while riding her bike to school in central Fresno.

Authorities say it happened in the area of Olive and Millbrook before 8 am.

Police say a tire went over the girl after she was hit, and good Samaritans used a jack to lift up the vehicle and free the girl.

While the girl has some bruises, authorities say she is expected to be okay and was standing and talking. She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center as a precaution.

The driver of the SUV is cooperating with police.
