2 elderly women killed in violent Fresno County crash identified

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol says a second woman has died after a violent crash near Millerton Lake in Fresno County.

The crash happened just before 1 p.m. Thursday on Auberry Road at Millerton Road.

Investigators say an 18-year-old Clovis woman driving a Toyota SUV ran a stop sign and collided with a Nissan sedan.

The impact killed 88-year-old Yvonne Cheney of Auberry, who was a passenger in the Nissan. The California Highway Patrol initially said the victim was 100 years old.

94-year-old Nellie Moreno, who was a passenger in the 18-year-old's Toyota, died from her injuries at the hospital. Moreno was one of the four people hospitalized as a result of the crash.

Officers say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
