83-year-old killed in apartment fire in central Fresno identified

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- We now know the name of the man who died in a central Fresno apartment fire.

He's been identified as 83-year-old James Lowery of Fresno.

Fresno Fire released helmet cam video showing crews as they entered the building at First and Weldon on Wednesday, July 15.

Fresno Fire released helmet camera footage Thursday showing crews as they breached a Central Fresno apartment building during a deadly fire Wednesday. It killed one man.

They tried to reach Lowery, who was trapped inside, but he never made it out.

The fire began inside the apartment and quickly spread to a shared attic space.

Four units were damaged, and 15 residents were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
