Residents displaced after apartment fire in northeast Fresno, officials say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Residents in two apartments are displaced after a fire in northeast Fresno early Tuesday morning.

It broke out at the North Park Apartments across from Fresno State on Shaw and Backer just after 12:30 am.

Crews say the fire started in the bottom-floor apartment and spread to the second floor.

They were able to contain the fire to the first-floor apartment, with little damage to the second-floor apartment.

Firefighters say their biggest challenge was working around the wrought-iron fence along Shaw Avenue.

No one was hurt. Residents were able to get out safely.

No word on how many residents were displaced.

Those living in the two affected apartments are being helped, while the other residents in the connecting apartments were able to return.

The cause is under investigation.
