
CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- An elderly man has died after crashing into a guardrail on the westbound Highway 168 off-ramp at Herndon Avenue on Monday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, when officers arrived around 1:40 p.m., they found an 86-year-old man in a Volvo XC90 that had collided with a tree in the center median.
Officers performed CPR on the victim, but the man was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators say that the man struck a guardrail along the right shoulder of the off-ramp, causing him to veer left before coming to rest in the median.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
No other vehicles or passengers were involved.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
