Angels put SS Andrelton Simmons on 10-day IL with ankle sprain

The Los Angeles Angels have placed shortstop Andrelton Simmons on the 10-day injured list due to a left ankle sprain.

The team recalled infielder Luis Rengifo.

Simmons rolled his left ankle when he ran out an infield single in the ninth inning and landed hard on the bag during Monday's 3-0 loss to the Oakland Athletics.
