Fresno Police are reporting 30 percent drop in homicides this year following Sunday's deadly shooting.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Around 11 a.m. Sunday, Fresno Police responded to a call of a nine-round shot-spotter at Dakota and Pleasant Avenues in central Fresno.
When officers arrived, they were flagged down to the Pleasant Village Apartments, where three people were suffering from gunshots, two women and one man.
Detectives later determined that an unknown man entered the apartment complex, confronted three men and opened fire.
One of the women hit was caught in the crossfire.
"Our 34-year-old female victim was minding her own business. She was out dumping the trash," Fresno Police lieutenant Brian Valles said.
The injured were taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment, where 35-year-old Mariano Cabrera died from his injuries.
One neighbor, who asked to speak off-camera, lives in the complex and said the area has a history of gun violence.
"There's always a shooting at least once a month. We've had vehicles hit by gunfire in our driveway. People's houses down the street hit by gunfire," the neighbor said.
Concerned neighbors are now questioning their safety in the aftermath of Sunday morning's deadly shooting.
"We know these types of incidents bring fear, and it's understandable. An individual firing at three people, at least three people and striking another one who's completely not involved, that will bring fear," Lt. Valles said.
Fresno Police are responding to that fear with added patrols stationed along Pleasant and Fedora Avenues.
"Our MAGEC Team is aware of the potential gang-involvement in that area. So there are proactive units that are going to be in and around that apartment complex," Lt. Valles said.
Despite these recent shootings, Fresno Police are reporting a 30 percent decrease in homicides from this time last year and a 28-percent drop in shootings year to date.
The Fresno Police Department is asking those in the area of Sunday's shooting to provide any surveillance footage to help piece together this case.
The family of Mariano Cabrera will be holding a candlelight vigil on Monday night.
