California reservoirs nearly full, but some concern still remains

CALIFORNIA -- Shasta Lake and Trinity Lake are both near capacity heading into the summer months.

They're providing promising conditions for recreation and water storage despite concerns over California's low snowpack this year.

The lakes are in strong shape, though the lack of snowfall across the state could still create challenges later in the season.

While Shasta Lake relies heavily on rainfall, Trinity Lake depends more on snowmelt.

Despite what officials described as a statewide "snow drought," Trinity Lake is also sitting at about 90% capacity.

All that water is ready to be used downstream in the Sacramento River for communities, agriculture, and keeping it cold enough for salmon.
