CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Students, parents and the community have a chance to take a closer look at what Clovis Unified has to offer.
Whether it's construction, patient care, or ag-related, you'll have the chance to dive into the different Career Technical Education pathways at Clovis Unified's upcoming Career Technical Education Night.
"It's really a time for parents and students in the community, and the community to show up and just see what we offer," Director of Career Technical Education Margaret Files said.
She said that with 21 different pathways offered across the district, students are able to explore potential career fields.
"Sometimes, they will go into a pathway and then decide, 'Oh, this is not what I want to do,' but they're doing that during high school, instead of during college when they've -- not wasted -- but they've spent time in something and then decide that they don't enjoy it," Files said.
Each course features industry-standard technology and connects students with industry partners.
"They're not just sitting in a classroom and reading a book about the career. They're actually getting out and working with the professionals who are in the career and teaching them and guiding them," Files said.
Some CTE courses help students earn certifications.
Many dually enrolled students, allowing them to earn college credits while still in high school.
There will be CTE counselors and college representatives on site at the event.
Files says CTE pathways are important for students to explore whether they're going to college or straight into the workforce.
"We want to prepare them for what comes next and what they're interested in," Files said.
The event is taking place on January 29 from 6 to 8 pm at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District.
