FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Costco is recalling grapevines sold from a Fresno County farm after the glassy-winged sharpshooter was detected.

Between April 21, 2026, and May 21, 2026, Costco Wholesale locations received multiple shipments of grapevines from Burchell Nursery, Inc. in Fresno County.

Officials say the invasive species have been detected on shipments across multiple counties, including Sacramento, Sonoma, Marin, Solano, Yolo and others.

Glassy-winged sharpshooters, with an appearance similar to crickets, can cause Pierce's disease, a bacterial infection that blocks water-conducting systems in plants, drying them out. The disease is incurable.

Costco is directly contacting members who purchased plants within the timeframe and has been a cooperative partner with all County Ag Commissioners.

Officials are urging customers not to move, return or throw away the affected plant and instead contact your local agriculture authorities.
