Dine and Dish: Aromas in Fresno's Tower District

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The brunch crowd follows their nose to Aromas at Olive and Echo in Fresno's Tower District.

"They say you eat with your eyes, but it's also your smell," says Owner Maria Gonzales. "You smell something delicious, and it makes your mouth water."

Take the chicken and waffles prepared by Chris Ortega and Lazarus Villareal.

"Everything's made in-house -- the waffles, the chicken," Gonzales said. "We do prepare it with a honey hot sauce, so that is a sweet but spicy sauce that goes perfectly with that chicken."

Antonio Sequera sticks with what he loves.

"This is a steak, onion rings and vegetables," he said. "It's pretty much what I eat all the time and my glass of wine."

"We wanted to elevate it, so the bigger cuts of steak," Gonzales said.

Gonzales added that the ribeye and eggs breakfast is the best seller.

"The people that work here are amazing, so kind," says Melissa Duran.

"It's nice to see we've built a community within Tower with our customers," Gonzales said.

The Brunch Burger is a handful. It's so big, I figured it'd be better to cut it in half.

Aromas is also open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

"It came from our own customers actually requesting us to open," Gonzales said.

The staff was ready to offer a different experience - after dark.

"It is a rotisserie chicken, and it has a nice little lemon cream sauce," Gonzales said. "Those are the vegetables that come with it. Mashed potatoes with gravy."

We also saw the sirloin with baked potato and the Cajun penne.

"I like the service because to me, the service is very important," Sequera said. "You come and spend some time, you enjoy it and you come back."
