Dove Fire in Tuolumne Co. prompts evacuations
A wildfire in Tuolumne County, about 70 miles west of Yosemite National Park, prompted evacuations on Sunday.

SONORA, Calif. -- A fast-moving wildfire in Tuolumne County prompted evacuations on Sunday.

Crews are calling it the Dove Fire and say it started around 3 p.m.

CAL FIRE said Sunday night fire was holding within the retardant lines, yet still had a moderate rate of spread. Firefighters are continuing to engage the fire to establish and reinforce containment lines.

CAL FIRE reported as of Monday morning that the fire was at 223 acres.

It is burning east of Stockton Road along Highway 108, about 70 miles west of Yosemite National Park.

CAL FIRE says an evacuation shelter is now open at the Tuolumne County Resilience Center in Tuolumne City.
