
HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Hanford police officer was airlifted to the hospital following a traffic collision while on duty.
It happened around 6 p.m. Friday on Grangeville Boulevard near East Street.
The Hanford Police Department says the officer was responding to a traffic collision, when a small pickup truck merged onto East street without yielding to oncoming traffic.
The officer tried to avoid the truck but was thrown off the bike after hitting the side of the truck.
Authorities say the officer is in serious, but stable condition suffering injuries to his arms and face.
The department also expressed gratitude for the community's concern for the officer.
