MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A former correctional officer at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla was sentenced to 224 years in prison on Thursday for sexually assaulting female inmates.

Last month, during a court hearing, Gregory Rodriguez was forced to listen as several of his nine victims recounted the abuse they suffered in prison.

Rodriguez was convicted of more than 60 counts of sexual assault.

Two other victims spoke today before he was sentenced.

During the trial, Rodriguez's attorneys dismissed the women's accounts as "stories."

The 224-year prison term is the maximum sentence allowed in this case.
