Fresno Ag Hardware celebrates 150 years of serving the community

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A beloved Fresno business, Fresno Ag Hardware, is celebrating 150 years of serving the growing community, with a priority on building strong relationships with customers.

Chief Operating Officer Ian Williams was helping Dan, a loyal customer since the 70s, find a few items.

Williams says that a simple hello and hands-on support show the community that they matter.

" The culture and the vibe when you come in here is welcoming; it's, ' How can we help you today'," said Ian Williams.

Customers might walk in for a light bulb but walk out with a plant, a goose, a new shirt, or some cinnamon rolls because inside the massive store, there is something for everyone.

The business stocks more than 70,000 products across its two locations.

Items you can shop for while eating free popcorn.

But Williams says that before the store became the staple it is today, it was founded in 1876, serving farmers and ranchers with tools to develop the region.

In 1953, it was purchased by William's grandfather and stayed in the family.

" I always say, hey listen, I am just the steward of this business, this business is bigger than me and bigger than just my family, this is Fresno's store, and it's up to us to make sure we are here for the community," said Williams.

William's credits his family for setting the bar high and creating a sense of home and familiarity with every employee and customer, including store manager Kevin Seubert, who has been along for the ride for nearly 50 years.

" I worked with his grandfather and uncle's brother," said Kevin Sudbury, "No regrets whatsoever. Good family. Good people."

A legacy Williams hopes will continue for generations to come.

" I am very proud of what we do here, so yeah, I would really hope to pass this on to my children, if they wanted to do it," said Williams.

So, customers like Dan can shop for anything they need decades later.

To celebrate 150 years, the community is invited to stop by the store this weekend for a bucket sale and hot dogs.

You will get 25 percent off whatever you can fit inside the bucket.

Three barbecues will also be raffled off!
