FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno City College is normally buzzing with students, but on Monday morning, the campus was quiet.
"It's usually really busy, especially on Monday, because everyone has class," says Christopher Cruz Cruz.
Part of the school closed after a driver lost control of their car Sunday evening, smashing into a main water line.
Signs were posted around campus alerting students to the buildings that had to close while the water was shut off for the repair.
Cruz Cruz got an alert about the partial closure around 8:30 am.
"I woke up, I was studying for a math test, actually and then I saw it was cancelled," he said.
Fresno plumbing crews could be seen working to fix the broken equipment.
The crash happened on Parking Lot K, behind the Old Administration Building off Weldon Avenue.
The Fresno Fire Department says a driver went across the grass, hitting another parked vehicle and the water line.
The department tells Action News they had the city shut off the water.
It's unclear how the driver lost control, but firefighters add there was also a passenger in the car.
The water line damage also postponed Black History Month events that were supposed to take place inside the Old Administration Auditorium.
The disruption on campus cancelled four of Keith Zack's classes.
"I'm not super upset about it but I'm just a little bummed," he said.
While portions of FCC remained closed, several other buildings on campus were able to stay open, including the new Science building.
While Monday's closure was an inconvenience for students, they're learning to just roll with the punches.
"Things happen, and you can never have full control of what happens," Cruz Cruz said.
Fresno City College says it will continue to inform the campus community about the situation and any future incidents through its alert system.
