Fresno County deputy arrested, accused of sexual battery while on duty

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno County sheriff's deputy has been arrested after accusations of sexual battery were made against him.

Alejandro Apodaca, 31, was arrested on two counts of felony sexual battery and one count of felony assault by a public officer on Wednesday.

Police say the incident happened on Sunday, May 10, in Fresno when Apodaca was on duty. The victim told police they were sexually assaulted by a deputy.

A search warrant was done at Apodaca's home, while a DNA test was also taken.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office placed Apodaca on administrative leave.

He has bonded out of jail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 28.
