Fresno firefighters surprise birthday girl with cake after oven fire involving cupcakes

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno Fire Department stepped in to save the day in what turned into a birthday emergency.

Over the weekend, a crew was called out to a home for an oven fire.

The residents were baking cupcakes for a little girl's birthday when the flames sparked and damaged the cupcakes.

Not wanting the party on pause, the crew from Engine 12 decided to surprise the little girl with a replacement cake -- decorated in purple and pink.

The kind gesture turned a stressful situation into a reason to smile.
