
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno State wrapped up non-conference play with a dominant 56-7 win over Southern University. It was the first HBCU program to play at Valley Children's Stadium.
EJ Warner entered his 4th game as the Bulldogs' starting quarterback with 0 touchdowns to an NCAA-worst five interceptions. The senior responded in a big way, going 20/24, throwing for 240 yards and 4 touchdowns.
His first touchdown was a connection with Valley native Harold Duvall. The freshman from Clovis East pulled in a 25-yard TD for his first catch in a Bulldog uniform. On Fresno State's ensuing drive, Warner found Jordan Brown for a 7-yard touchdown, the first in the career of the senior WR who started his college tenure as a walk-on.
Bryson Donelson returned from an injury at Oregon State to lead the 'Dogs on the ground with 9 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Elijah Gilliam, Johnathan Arceneaux and Rayshon Luke also ran in touchdowns. Luke added another touchdown through the air, taking a pitch from Warner 20 yards to the endzone.
In total, Fresno State outgained the Jaguars 507-142 in total yards. It was the Bulldogs' 20th straight win over an FCS opponent.
Next up is the start of conference play in the team's final season in the Mountain West. Kickoff at Hawaii is set for 8:59 PM on Saturday, September 20.
