Victim identified after body found in trunk of Tesla in Merced County

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities have identified the victim whose body was found in the trunk of a Tesla along a Merced County highway on July 9.

Action News insider video showed California Highway Patrol officers and Merced County Sheriff's Office deputies responding Thursday afternoon to the area of Highway 152 and Lower Cottonwood Road.

According to CHP, the body of 42-year-old Javier Becerril of Hollister was found inside the trunk of a white Tesla following a report of a missing person.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.
