Hatchet Fire in Tulare County threatens multiple structures, Cal Fire says

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. -- Cal Fire crews are battling a wildfire in Tulare County that started on Sunday morning.

The Hatchet Fire has burned 450 acres west of Highway 190 and southwest of Springville.

Crews responded at 3 a.m. and say the fire has burned at a moderate rate of spread.

Evacuation warnings are in place for nearby communities.

Several structures, including homes, are threatened.

Cal Fire says they have faced challenges with rugged terrain and are fighting the blaze with air and ground resources, bringing in additional crews, engines, aircraft, and equipment to strengthen suppression efforts.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
