
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An innocent bystander has been taken to the hospital after two groups opened fire at each other in a central Fresno shopping center.
Fresno Police say at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, they received multiple 911 calls of shots fired in the area of DD's Discounts on Ashlan Avenue and Griffith Way. Officers also received a 14-round ShotSpotter notification in the same area.
When officers arrived, they found one person described as being in their late teens suffering from a gunshot wound to their foot.
Investigators say the victim was not a part of the shooting and was walking with another person into the DD's Discounts at the time.
The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
Witnesses told police that at least one person from two separate groups of people began shooting at each other. Authorities have not determined what led up to the gunfire.
All individuals involved in the shooting fled on foot shortly after.
At least three people have been detained and one of the detainees is believed to be involved in the shooting.
