The Reedley farmer, Cesar Mora, who gave away thousands of nectarines, is still fighting to keep his trees.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Reedley farmer, Cesar Mora, who gave away thousands of nectarines, is still fighting to keep his trees.

Mora is in dispute with Giumarra Brothers Fruit Company, which claims Mora allegedly violated an agreement by selling his white nectarines to another supplier.

Opening arguments started on Tuesday for the long-awaited trial.

Mora gained widespread attention on social media last month for giving away over 180,000 pounds of a special variety of nectarine provided by Giumarra.

His attorneys say a Fresno Superior Court judge ordered Mora to remove all the trees to settle the issue.

They filed an emergency motion to prevent the removal of his trees while they file an appeal. Giumarra objected to that motion.

Mora's attorneys say Giumarra is expected to testify next week.

More than $60,000 was raised by Mora's supporters during his 'No Nectarines Wasted' campaign.

He said the money is being used to help pay legal expenses.
