FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A juvenile rider suffered major injuries after being hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night in Kings County.

Authorities with the California Highway Patrol say the collision happened shortly after 9 p.m. on 17th Avenue and Hanford-Armona Road. Officers say they received reports of a crash involving a dark-colored sedan and a boy riding an off-highway electric motorcycle, referred to as an eMoto.

According the investigators, the boy was riding the eMoto north on 17th Avenue when a dark-colored sedan traveling in the same direction approached from behind. For reasons still under investigation, the sedan collided with the rear of the eMoto.

The impact ejected the rider, and officers say he suffered major injuries as a result. Emergency responders transported the victim to Kaweah Health Medical Center for treatment.

Following the crash, the driver of the sedan left the scene without stopping to help the victim or to provide information to law enforcement.

Investigators believe the suspect vehicle continued west on Lacey Boulevard after leaving the crash scene. The sedan is described only as dark-colored and is believed to have damage to its right front bumper.

Anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol.
