Los Angeles Dodgers place Justin Wrobleski on injured list
LOS ANGELES -- Starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski was placed on the injured list Sunday with what the Los Angeles Dodgers are calling forearm inflammation, prompting reliever Kyle Hurt to be called up to take his place on the roster.
Wrobleski, a 26-year-old left-hander, put together a dominant first half, posting a 2.69 ERA in 100 innings to make his first All-Star team. But Wrobleski has a 6.92 ERA ever since, during which he has allowed 11 home runs in 26 innings.
The severity of Wrobleski's injury is not known, but the IL placement could be motivated at least in part by the Dodgers wanting to give him some rest. With 126 innings, Wrobleski is already approaching his previous career high of 132, set between the major and minor leagues in 2024.
Wrobleski doesn't have a spot in the Dodgers' playoff rotation if all their starters all healthy, but in all likelihood he would still be a weapon out of the bullpen.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tarik Skubal, Blake Snell, Eric Lauer and Roki Sasaki currently make up the rotation. The Dodgers utilize a six-man rotation, but they have three off days over the last 15 days of August, allowing them to operate without the extra starter for the time being.br/]
